Description
Spirulina typically grows in lakes and can even grow in conditions that would be far too extreme for other organisms. Spirulina is a nutrient-dense blue green algae used as a nutritional supplement. It is used to help to reduce fatigue and boost energy, lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels, stimulate the immune system, fight viral infections, and aid in weight loss.
Spirulina is cyanobacteria or “blue-green algae” which is safe for human consumption. While it can be eaten as a whole food in powder form, it is commonly taken in tablet form.
